What time is “secure campus” and visitors are required check in?

All visitors are required to sign in at the front office and leave a valid id 7:45 a.m. through the final bell.

What entrances are open at what time?

                East Gates: 7:45-8:15 – Main student entrance -STUDENTS ONLY

                Office/Administration: 7:45  - All visitors MUST check-in with office and leave a valid id.

   North Gate/Breezeway: Closed before and during school hours. The gate will for use by                 west- walking students/bicycles open upon dismissal bell. 

What if I want to escort my child to their classroom to start the day?

We allow parents to escort their students on the first day of school.  After that time, students will be directed to the playground where teachers will pick up students when the bell rings.  

What if I need to talk to my child’s teacher before school?

Parents wishing to talk to their child’s teacher before school will need to make an appointment with the teacher.

I want to eat lunch with my child.

Parents will sign in at the front office and join their child for lunch and leave a valid id at the front office. Parents my bring lunch for their student only.  As a reminder, we have the following procedure in place.

In order to promote cafeteria procedures and friendships with new classmates, outdoor patio dining will begin the 2nd Monday in September. For all grade levels, patio dining is limited to your child and two friends. Due to allergies and diet restrictions, we ask that you only bring food for your child.

Oops! My child forgot his or her lunch/band instrument/homework/medication/etc.!

Items may be left at the front desk with the exception of medication. Medication must be given directly to the Health Tech.

I need to give the cafeteria money?      

All children attending Lookout Mountain School will receive meals at no charge due to participation in the National School Lunch Program Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the school year 2019-2020.  


We welcome volunteers on campus.  If you are interested please contact your child’s teacher. He or she will give you information on training and the volunteer agreement form that needs to be completed prior to your scheduling.

Pick my child up early (Sick or appointment)

You will need to bring a picture ID to sign your child out of school. Please allow ample time when signing students out for appointments. Due to transition at the end of the day, signing students out early is not an option after 3:00 p.m. (or 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays). Please plan on picking up your child prior to 3:00 p.m. if you have an appointment.

Can I wait for my child after school by their classroom?

Parents must use the waiting areas designated outside of school fences.

I need to help carry in a project to classrooms

Teachers will communicate to parents the protocol for dropping off larger projects that may need to be delivered.

I need to buy whatever someone is selling (student council/PTO/etc.) before school starts

Typically tables will be set up by the main gate or in the center breezeway.

How do I deliver snacks/birthday treats?

 All snacks and birthday treats must be from the Approved Food List that is available on the Lookout Mountain website also below in pdf. Snack and birthday treats may be dropped off at the front desk.


The front gate will be open until 7:30AM for before school conferences. After that time, parents will need to sign in at the front office and get a visitors badge.

Areas to park

Visitor parking lot and overflow lots are located on Coral Gables, on the east side of the property.

 Staff Parking Lot is located on Coral Gables at the west end of the property closest to the cafeteria.
