Meggan Jacks

1.       What are your strengths as a team member?

My strength as a team member include the ability to collaborate with others by actively listening to, and contributing constructively to, the topic under discussion along with a strong commitment to follow through. I have strong critical thinking skills which are helpful in a group situation where there may be numerous sides of an argument presented.

2.       What other strengths can you contribute to the Site Council?

While my application lists my classification as a “parent” representative, I think the skill set and perspective I have developed as a small business owner, in addition to my perspective as a parent, will be an asset to the team.  For example, I have experience and strengths in workflow process improvement and gaining efficiencies by utilizing technology.

3.       What are your goals for Lookout Mountain for the next two years?

My goals for the next two years is to keep LOM on a path towards continued excellence. I feel by actively participating in the Site Council I can be a part of the group that addresses concerns and looks for opportunities for improvement.

In addition to a commitment to overall excellence, I would like to see LOM to continue to increase the use of electronic communications with parents. The creation of teacher websites for the 2012-13 school year was fabulous and I had the privilege of helping several faculty members establish and maintain their websites. There are a few additional things I would like to suggest become “best practice” with the websites and would welcome the opportunity to collaborate as a parent on those discussions.

With the focus of the new school as being a “green” building, I would prefer to have newsletters and other school/district information be sent to my email address where I can easily reference back to it without needing to sort through piles of paper and I believe I am not alone in this preference. In addition, this would save school money on paper supplies and printing costs.

I am sure as we move into the new school there will be additional challenges and opportunities for the Site Council to address. I believe I would be a positive addition to the team.

2.       What other strengths can you contribute to the Site Council?

Team player, Leader and very flexible.

3.       What are your goals for Lookout Mountain for the next two years?

To provide excellence and safety so they (children) have a nurturing environment where they can learn.
